And One To Grow On...
I have ducks. Two male mallards and two females. Each year they lay eggs and we have ducklings. We often have 6 to 12 eggs in the nest at a time. Kids visiting our house get a kick out of them.
The other day I checked on the 6 eggs that were currently in the nest. They were gone! Nope, they didn't hatch. Dogs or coyotes couldn't jump the fence. I'm afraid we have a snake visiting the nest for a free egg breakfast each morning, and that gives one pause, doesn't it?
What kind of snake? IS IT STILL IN THE PEN? If so, where? I don't like surprises.
This was a remonder that we live in "snake country", and though we see them seldom, they are still around and we must be wary and watching.
The Bible tells us we have a worse enemy than snakes around. Satan! we might not see him, but like the missing eggs was a sign of snakes being around, we also see signs of Satan being around too.
"Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he can devour." 1st Peter 5:8
Lions! Snakes! Eee-Yah! Part of being vigilant is prayer for protection for our family, church flocks, staff, and selves from him. He's around, even when we don't see anything of him other than his handiwork. Be sober; be vigilant. Be praying! The Garden's serpent is as sneaky as the snakes at my house! Hidden, but around.
Later,
Roger
